A Dream Yuga from Honda Motorcycle

Further intensifying competition in the entry-level bike segment, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) on Thursday unveiled its much-awaited 110 cc bike besides introducing four other mass production models and two international bikes at the Auto Expo. HMSI, which recently exited from its Indian joint venture Hero Honda with the Hero Group, said it would invest an additional Rs.1,000 crore in the next fiscal to expand its production as well as presence across the country.

Showcasing its prowess in the bike category, the Japanese auto major introduced 110cc mass motorcycle Dream Yuga that would challenge its rivals, particularly the leader in the segment — Hero MotoCorp. The other bikes being showcased at the expo are sporty performance bike CBR 150R, and new models of CB Shine and CBR 250R. It also unveiled the new model of automatic scooter Dio, besides showcasing superbikes CBR 1000RR Fireblade and VT 1300CX.

Pointing out that the bike-maker would launch India-specific brands, HMSI Vice-President (Sales, Marketing, Planning and Corporate Affairs) N. K. Rattan said: “Till now investment is Rs.1,800 crore…we will invest Rs.1,000 crore next year. Our third plant is coming up in Karnataka.”
