Zen Mobile launches dual SIM handsets

Zen Mobile on Monday said it has launched a handset with the facility of both GSM and CDMA based telephony at a price of Rs. 3,299, offering users a wide variety of phones.

The mobile firm, part of the 15-year-old Teleecare Group, has launched QWERTY Z 77 targetting the youth, the company said in a statement.

Zen Mobile offers hassle-free browsing while its large 2.2 inch screen for easy Internet surfing, the company said.

One can watch movies and videos on the widescreen as it offers the benefit of the MP4 playback and recording and also has a 1.3 mega pixel camera. Wireless FM radio and the expandable memory of the phone are the added features.

With an increase of about 15 to 16 million mobile connections a month and new telecom operators slashing call rates, customers in small cities going in for multiple SIMs to benefit from these low-tariff plans and more and more handsets are being launched by Indian companies.

At present, the country’s mobile handset market has over 35 domestic and international brands. Local brands like Lemon, Spice, Micromax are gaining popularity in small towns, say analysts attributing it to relevant technical features like attractive price points.
