Chandra Shekhar Verma on Friday took charge as the Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). He takes over from S. K. Roongta who retired from office on May 31. Prior to this, Mr. Verma was Director (Finance) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
Mr. Verma's appointment as the new chief of SAIL comes at a time when the country's biggest steel producer has outlined a major expansion and investment programme running into nearly Rs. 70,000 crore.
