Schwing Stetter to showcase products at expo

November 23, 2009 10:59 pm | Updated 10:59 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Schwing Stetter, the Indian subsidiary of German manufacturer of concrete making technology, is organising global launch of some of its equipment made at its plants around Chennai at the EXCON, the construction equipment expo to be held here from November 25 to 29.

Managing Director Anand Sundaresan told reporters here on Monday that “Among our seven products on display, the CP 18, M 1.25 and M 2.25 mobile concrete batching plants, designed for uses from highway building to construction are new in our portfolio. Another newer product is the S41 concrete pump with a delivery boom reaching up to 41 m. This has special application in ongoing and planned metro rail projects as in Bangalore where concrete has to be taken to elevations without disrupting the traffic below.” The Chennai plant had been making equipment specifically for Indian needs such as non-technical persons often handling them, he said.

Chief Operating Officer V. G. Sakthikumar said exports during 2008 were Rs. 75 crore but were lower in the current year. But, newer markets like Sri Lanka and Nepal were opening up. “We had commissioned a Mumbai-based consultancy to survey the market and found that potential customers like real estate developers may take more time to recover,” he said when asked about expansion of Chennai plant.
