Michelin Tyres, which is setting up a plant in Thiruvallur district, 40 km from Chennai, will shortly hire under-200 people.

Prasahant Prabhu, President, Africa, Middle East and India for Michelin said that the company would continue to hold 40 hectares that it holds near Ranjangaon in Pune, Maharashtra, which it has had ever since it withdrew from a proposed joint venture in India.

“We have already started hiring and have taken 60 people for our Chennai plant,” Mr. Prabhu told a group of visiting journalists from India.
