Lennox launches technology centre in India

Lennox International inc. (LII), the U.S.-based heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) company, announced its India operations by launching “Lennox India Technology Center ” in Chennai on Monday. The centre was officially inaugurated by Todd Bluedorn, Chief Executive Officer along with Brian Dalton, U.S. Consul General-Chennai and Sandhya Shekhar, CEO, IITM Research Park.

Addressing presspersons Mr. Bluedorn said the centre, located in Ascendas IT Park, would primarily focus on controls engineering, and information technology applications. Lennox was making significant investments over the last few years despite the global recession and slowdown in the end markets it was operating, he said. Lennox had a rich heritage of innovation and industry leading innovative product offerings such as solar integrated heat pumps, residential gas furnace, commercial roof top HVAC system and commercial refrigeration condenser with micro-channel heat exchanger.

According to Prakash Bedapudi, Chief Technology Officer, the reason for selecting Chennai for the technology centre was based on the presence of manufacturing industry and supply chain in and around the city. Besides the availability of talent pool, particularly in the areas of controls engineering and mechanical engineering was another reason to zero in on this location, he said.
