Bombardier opens regional support office

Bombardier Aerospace, a leading manufacturer of transport solutions, has announced the opening of new regional support office (RSO) in Mumbai.

The new RSO will be the company's fifth new support office in addition to those opened in Tokyo, Sydney, Shanghai and Munich and is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2010-11.

The company was putting more individuals, 12 employees consisting among others customer support account managers and this dedicated team would complement Bombardier's regional field service representatives located throughout India and its surrounding regions, Bombardier Business Aircraft Regional Vice-President (Sales), Asia Pacific region, David Dixon, said.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft Vice-President (Sales), Asia Pacific, Trung Ngo, said the market forecast for 2009-18 projected 1,030 deliveries for overall business jet industry, including 250 in India.

In the commercial aircraft segment, the projection for 2009-2028 foresaw India, driven by strong economic growth, would account for 36 per cent deliveries to the Asia-Pacific region (excluding China) during the 20-year period. In all, 11,500 deliveries were projected in the next ten years of which 250 were expected to be in India. There were, of course, significant challenges on the infrastructure front such as duties/taxes, crew qualification, and flight clearance process.
