A day after Kingfisher Airlines submitted a new revival plan to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said it would not allow Kingfisher to operate till the airline cleared its dues .
Sources in the AAI said that there was no question of allowing the grounded carrier to operate on ‘cash-and-carry’ basis. Also, a no objection certificate (NOC) would be issued only after all dues, including penal interest, were cleared by the airline, these sources asserted. Kingfisher Airlines, on Wednesday, informed the DGCA that it had urged the AAI to allow it to fly on a ‘cash-and -arry basis’.
“We have not received any letter or representation from Kingfisher Airlines on the issue. They owe us around Rs. 390 crore, and only after this money is cleared, any view will be taken on allowing the airline to fly,” a senior AAI official said.
