Consumer electronics major Samsung on Thursday launched 3D televisions and announced the commencement of manufacturing of these latest TVs at its Noida plant.

The company has introduced 10 models of 3D TVs across LED, LCD and Plasma ranges in the screen size between 40 and 65 inches and priced between Rs.1.29-lakh and Rs.4.35-lakh.

“With the launch of the full high definition (HD) 3D TV line up, we seek to provide consumers with matchless home entertainment experience that has never been experienced by consumers anywhere,” Samsung President and CEO (South West Asia) Jung Soo Shin told journalists here.

According to Samsung India Deputy Managing Director Ravinder Zutshi, “we are also seeking to create the 3D eco-system by launching its 3D Blu ray player, Blu-ray integrated home theatre system and 3D active glasses. With a comprehensive line up of 3D TV offerings, we will offer total 3D solution for home entertainment.”

On the market share, Mr. Zutshi said Samsung enjoyed more than 40 per cent market share in the flat panel category, which they hoped to double this year.

“We are expecting our 3D TVs, which are energy efficient and made using environmentally friendly processes, to constitute 10 per cent of our total LED TV sales in 2010,” he added.

It planned to set up in store displays of the 3D TV range across Samsung Plazas and key multi-brand counters to bring alive the experience of 3D for consumers, Mr. Zutshi added.
