The rupee on Tuesday rose by 14 paise to 52.87 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange, supported by selling of the American currency by exporters and banks.
Besides, a higher opening in the equity market and strengthening of euro against the dollar overseas also supported the rupee, forex dealers said.
The rupee had lost 20 paise to end at 53.01 on Monday on sustained dollar demand from importers.
