Olive Telecom showcases 3.5G tablet

Olive Telecommunications Private Limited, a Gurgaon-based convergence solutions device developer, has announced big plans for brand building.

The company will also beef up activities in research and development.

Olive Telecom has announced the launch of OlivePad VT 100, a multi-functional device operating on Android platform and supports 3.5G HSUPA, Wi-Fi and Blue Tooth.

With an in-built three mega pixel camera and a front camera, the OlivePad, the seven-inch touch notebook priced at Rs. 21,000-25,000, could be used for browsing, multi-media, instant messaging and easy access to social networking. The company would launch by this month-end 3G-enabled Olive Zipbook, the mobile computing device enabling users to experience not only the mobile broadband but also a versatile and powerful computing machine.

Olive Telecommunication Chairman Arun Khanna told reporters here on Tuesday that the company achieved major breakthroughs in Mexico and Russia and it would soon enter the North American markets. It had tie-ups with all major telecom service providers in the country and had initiated steps to figure out whether to work with telecom operators or enter the open market segment.

He said the mobile smart phone market was set to reach $100 price point by next year and Olive Telecom planned to sell at least one lakh devices by the end of the current financial year.
