ZF Friedrichshafen opens Rs.150 crore new Pune unit

The facility will house ZF’s car powertrain technology and commercial vehicle technology divisions and ZF Services under one roof.

Global auto component major ZF Friedrichshafen inaugurated its new multi-product plant at Chakan near Pune on Thursday. Spread over an area of 85,000 sq. metres, it has been set up with an investment of Rs.150 crore.

The facility will house ZF’s car powertrain technology and commercial vehicle technology divisions and ZF Services under one roof.

A company statement said the unit 200 people and would be the headquarters of the after-market sales and services, engineering and administration of ZF India Pvt. Ltd.

“Today, we enhance this product portfolio by launching passenger car clutch systems,’’ said Piyush Munot, Managing Director India. “These are specially designed to meet the demand driving conditions in India.”

“ZF has successfully localised high technology products in India and the new facility is a commitment of expanding in a growth region like India.

“Now we will focus on the ‘Make-in-India’ theme and source quality products for the global portfolio,’’ Wilhelm Rehm, Board Member of ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Global head of material management said in a statement.
