Motorola Mobility, on Tuesday, launched its cheapest smartphone in the Indian market—Moto E—priced at Rs. 6,999. The company, which presently sells two models in the country, is confident of hitting the half-a-million sales mark in a few days.

The US-based firm had re-entered the handset market in the country earlier this year after a nearly two-year hiatus. It launched the Moto G in February, followed by Moto X a month later, exclusively with online retail major Flipkart.  Like the other two devices, the Moto E will also be exclusively made available on Flipkart.

“We have seen tremendous response for Moto G and Moto X and we are confident of crossing the half million units sales mark in the next few days. Moto E, our latest launch, will further fuel the growth that we have seen in Indian market,” Motorola Mobility India General Manager Amit Boni said.

Moto E is powered by the latest Android KitKat operating system, 1.2 Ghz dual-core with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal memory (expandable upto 32 GB). The dual-SIM device sports a 4.3 inch touchscreen and comes with a 1,980 mAh battery and a 5 MP rear camera.

The handset is expected to give a tough competition to devices from homegrown players like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn, who are popular for devices in the budget phone segment.
