A five-member team from Thailand headed by Consul-General Krongkanit Rakcharoen visited AMRL SEZ, a multi-product special economic zone in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu, to explore investment opportunities.
Ms. Krongkanit Rakcharoen and her team met officials of the AMRL SEZ and also visited a couple of units there to assess the ease of doing business, the advantages, latent technologies and benefits of the zone. The visit was also intended to identify the market potential in Tamil Nadu for Thailand firms and explore possibilities of manufacturing under the “Make in India’’ programme.
Raghini Peter, president (business development), AMRL SEZ, and Parashar Lohia, director, Ashray Logistics (co-developer, AMRL FTWZ) briefed the Thai team on the facilities at the SEZ.

AMRL SEZ is spread over 2,500 acres in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu. The SEZ has a capacity to house a diverse set of industries including textiles, electronics, general engineering, aerospace, auto components, logistics and warehousing. It also offers choices for businesses - from land lease to ready-to-move-in factories and warehousing facilities.
A 100-acres operational Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) is located within the SEZ and provides logistics and warehousing solutions to companies located in the area.
Over 30 companies have already committed to establishing their facilities in the SEZ, according a release. “Businesses have been invited to form clusters and take advantage of cluster benefits. This will allow the establishment of industry-specific enablers,’’ the release said.
