Tata Power keen to tap clean energy sources

Tata Power, on Tuesday, said it planned to add 150-200 MW of wind energy and 30-50 MW of solar power generation capacities every year as it aimed to generate 20-25 per cent of total generation capacity from clean energy sources.

“Our solar and wind energy assets are performing well… Our aim is to have 20-25 per cent of our generation portfolio from clean energy,” Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power, said in a statement.

The company said it had made an investment of Rs.2,393 crore so far in solar and wind energy.

At present, Tata Power’s domestic power generation capacity from clean sources such as hydro, wind and solar is 873 MW.

In the wind energy segment, the company has an installed capacity of 397 MWacross Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

The installed capacity in the solar energy space is over 28 MW, including 25 MW Mithapur project in Gujarat, 3 MW at Mulshi in Maharashtra, and some rooftop solar installations, the company said.
