German luxury car maker BMW, on Thursday, said it was yet to receive an official note on Competition Commission of India (CCI) order that imposed penalty on 14 car makers, including BMW, for violation of trade norms in the spare parts and after services market.
Total penaltyThe CCI, in its 251-page order dated August 25, 2014, had imposed a total penalty of Rs.2,544.64 crore against 14 car companies, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra. The penalty on BMW is Rs.20.41 crore.

When asked about the order, BMW Group India President Philipp von Sahr said, “We can do something only if we get official notice. Till now, we have not got anything.”
Stating that globally the auto bodies represented car makers in such situations, he said, “In this case, as 14 car manufacturers are involved, auto industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) needs to play a role here.”
Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki, on whom penalty of Rs.1,346.46 crore, Rs.292.25 crore and Rs.471.14 crore has been levied, respectively, have already said they would file appeal against the order before the appropriate authorities.
