S Mobility CEO quits

The company, which distributes its products under the brand name SPICE, has been struggling in the mobile handset business, and recently shut down both its manufacturing units at Baddi.

CEO of S Mobility Ltd. R. S. Desikan has put in his papers with effect from June 30, 2014, the smartphone maker said in an announcement to the stock exchanges on Monday.

Mr. Desikan had joined the company, which was formerly known as Spice Mobility Ltd., as CEO back in 2012. According to a BSE notification, he has “ceased to be chief executive officer and manager of the company from the close of business hours on June 30, 2014.” The company, which distributes its products under the brand name SPICE, has been struggling in the mobile handset business, and recently shut down both its manufacturing units at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. Spice Global, of which S Mobility is a part, has partnered with online search giant Google for a number of initiatives, the most recent development being Spice becoming a part of Google’s Android One initiative for India.
