RCoM ties up with Jasper to offer IoT services in India

August 27, 2015 11:09 pm | Updated March 29, 2016 05:48 pm IST - MUMBAI:

The service is expected to go live in four weeks and Reliance Group companies will be the anchor clients for the IoT rollout in India.

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications Ltd. (RCoM) has entered into a partnership with the U.S. based Jasper, a global Internet of Things (IoT) platform leader, to offer enterprises and individuals in India the capability to launch and manage business activities and monitor individual behavioural patterns through the IoT platform.

RCoM is Jasper’s sole telecom partner in India.

Through this partnership, RCoM can provide or install chips that can relay feedback to its data centres for processing and appropriate action. For example, a chip installed in a vehicle can relay details, which can help insurance companies to know the driving pattern of that vehicle so as to fix the appropriate premium.

Similarly, a host of services can be provided for smart cities and to the Government of India under its Digital India initiative.

The new collaboration uses RCoM’s Global Cloud Xchange (Cloud X) with 11 data centres and Jasper Centre platform to enable enterprises to deliver IoT services.

“This also marks yet another step forward in delivering the infrastructure and IoT platform required to facilitate the diverse array of projects under the ‘Digital India’ initiative,” RCoM said.

“Businesses throughout India as well as India’s own infrastructure and services are undergoing a massive transformation. Reliable networks, innovative Cloud computing and scalable IoT platforms are critical to enabling this revolution,” said Bill Barney, CEO, RCoM (Enterprise) and Global Cloud Xchange.

The deployment of the IoT services will enable businesses to build, implement and go to market faster, while gaining real-time visibility, control and service reliability he said.

This service is expected to go live in four weeks and Reliance Group companies will be the anchor clients for the IoT rollout in India. RCoM is discussing with multiple clients and state governments for the deployment of this platform.
