NMDC registers significant production growth in Q3

Iron ore production during Q3 was 23 per cent higher and dispatches were 15 per cent higher than the previous quarter of 2013-14.

Backed by favourable market conditions and growth in economic activity, the state-run National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has registered remarkable physical performance for Q3 2013-14.

In a statement issued here, the company said the production of iron ore stood at 73.05 LT (lakh tonnes) registering a growth of about 37 per cent over last year’s production of 53.32 LT. Iron ore dispatches stood at 74.33 LT, registering a growth of about 40 per cent over last year’s figures of 53.10 LT.

NMDC chairman and managing director, C.S. Verma said the company is geared to not only sustain the uptrend in production, but also improve its performance further in Q4 to meet the rising demand of steel industry.
