Maruti Suzuki announced the recall of over 75,000 units of its recently unveiled Baleno and almost 2,000 units of its compact sedan DZire to fix faulty airbag component and fuel filter.
“Maruti Suzuki will proactively and voluntarily recall 75,419 Baleno cars, both petrol and diesel, manufactured between August 3, 2015 and May 17, 2016 to upgrade the airbag controller software,” according to a company statement.
The recall is likely to impact almost all the units of the Baleno sold by the company since its introduction in October last. Airbags come as a standard feature in the car. Of the 75,419 units, 15,995 Baleno diesel cars manufactured between August 3, 2015 and March 22, 2016, will also be inspected and its faulty fuel filter replaced, the country’s largest car maker said.

The recall also includes 17,231 units of the Baleno which were exported.
Additionally, the company also announced the recall of 1,961 DZire diesel cars with AGS transmission for inspection and replacement of a defective fuel filter.

Maruti Suzuki dealers will contact the owners of the affected vehicles starting May 31, the company said. The software upgrade and the replacement of faulty fuel filter will be done free of cost.
Last week, it had announced a free service campaign for 20,427 units of its S-Cross model for a possible replacement of a faulty brake part.
