IndiGo to launch direct Chennai-Singapore flight from March 1

Low cost carrier IndiGo on Thursday announced launch of a daily direct flight between Chennai and Singapore starting March 1.

“With rising business and tourism stemming from the region, IndiGo is determined to provide the best travel experience to all those who wish to fly to Singapore from southern part of the country,” IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh said in a statement.

He said the airline was also exploring options of flight operations to Singapore from Hyderabad and Bengaluru in near future.

“We are also exploring flight operations to Singapore from Hyderabad and Bengaluru in near future. Our affordable fares on these new routes (Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad) will further grow the market and benefit travellers,” Mr Aditya Ghosh said in a release.

“There are strong trade and tourism ties between southern region of India and Singapore and travellers have requirements of low fares by an Indian airline,” he said.

The airline is offering an all inclusive return fare of Rs 15,998 as an introductory offer.

IndiGo, the largest carrier by domestic market share with 27.3 per cent in November, operates 373 daily flights across 33 destinations with a fleet of 61 aircrafts.
