Idea Cellular second quarter net soars

Idea Cellular has reported a consolidated net profit of Rs.448 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2013, as compared to Rs.241 crore in the same period last year, up 86 per cent.

Consolidated total revenue increased to Rs.6,323 crore from Rs.5,314 crore, up 19 per cent the company said in a statement.

On a standalone basis, the company reported a net profit of Rs.387 crore as compared to Rs.191 crore. Standalone total revenue was Rs. 6,234 crore as compared to Rs. 5,227 crore , up 19.3 per cent.

“With increasing proportion of rural subscribers, the seasonal slowdown in the second quarter has become more pronounced resulting in sharp contraction in the ‘Voice Minute of Use’ by 5.8 per cent to 138.8 billion minutes compared to 147.3 billion minutes in the first quarter of this financial year,” the company said in a statement.

Power Grid

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. has posted a net profit of Rs.1,239 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2013, as against Rs.1,126 crore during the corresponding period of the previous year, up 10 per cent.

Total income increased by 27 per cent to Rs.4,104 crore from Rs.3,243 crore

At present, the company is operating more than 102,100 circuit kilometres of transmission lines along with 172 sub-stations, and transformation capacity of about 172,370 megavolt amperes (MVA) with an inter-regional power transmission capacity of about 31,850 MW.

“The average availability during the quarter was maintained at 99.90 per cent,” R. N. Nayak, Chairman & Managing Director, said at a press conference.

Dewan Housing

Dewan Housing Finance has reported a sharp increase in its total income at Rs.1,167.21 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2013, against Rs. 817.78 crore in the same period in the previous year.

The profit after tax has risen by 50.4 per cent to Rs.129.14 crore from Rs.85.85 crore.

SKS Microfinance

SKS Microfinance has reported a net profit of Rs.16.30 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2013, against a loss of Rs.2 62 crore in the same period in the previous year. Total revenue increased by 10 per cent to Rs.135 crore from Rs.81 crore.
