CII commissions survey on gender diversity

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Western Region has commissioned a survey on gender diversity to identify the best companies for women to work. Women @ Work, India a first of its kind study on gender diversity was announced on Thursday by CII Indian Women Network (IWN) here.

For the survey, organizations will be short listed based on the maximum impact and commitment to the cause of gender diversity. This comprehensive study will come out with a report on practices adopted by the organizations that have practiced gender diversity and succeeded in the same.

“The survey report titled Women @ Work, India will be compendium of Best Companies and Best Practices,” Radhika Gopalkrishnan, Partner-Leadership Consulting, Aon Hewitt whose firm has been assigned to conduct the survey said.

Upon completion, the findings of this study would be shared with the participant CII members companies in the form of a report, she said.

R. Mukundan, Past Chairman, CII (WR) and MD, Tata Chemicals while speaking at an event organized for this purpose said today women constitute 50 per cent of the world population which makes it imperative from them to have an equal saying in decision-making.

According to Rajkamal Vempati, Co-Chair, IWN - CII (WR) and Head, HR, ICICI Lombard General Insurance the lowest participation of women in India’s corporate world has been noticed and the drop out of women at every stage of corporate world should be addressed.

“With IWN, we envisage to Enable, Engage and Empower women work force in India. The CII IWN’s unique programme on 100 hours of change aims to create role models by providing ideas through stories to create out puts. IWN is an inclusive network to learn from each other, we aim to make a network which will sustain through a lifetime,” Ms Vempati said.

Others present on the occasion included Anjali Raina, Executive Director, Harvard Business School, Sangeeta Pendurkar, Managing Director, Kellogg India and Ashu Suyash, CEO, L&T Investment Management Ltd.
