A string of senior-level exits has hit Hinduja Group-owned Defiance Technologies, with the company’s Managing Director and CEO Subu D. Subramanian having quit the company, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter.

Mr. Subramanian, who joined Defiance Technologies in 2009 after quitting the erstwhile Satyam Computer Services, confirmed the development.

“It has been a great journey for the last four years. Something new has come up, there are various options, I may know in two weeks,” he told

With over 25 years of experience in the information technology services industry, Mr. Subramanian was formerly associated with Tata Consultancy services, Ernst & Young and Ashok Leyland. He had joined Defiance to expand the company’s scope of operations beyond engineering to technology-enabled manufacturing and enterprise solutions.

Asit Barma, Vice-President and Head of Marketing and Strategy, too, has quit, and moved onto to another company, according to company sources.

Four months ago, Ramesh Babu, who was Senior Vice-President (Head, ERP) at Defiance, quit the company, moving onto Ramco Systems. While the reasons for the resignations were not immediately clear, Ashok Leyland had offloaded its Detroit-based testing and engineering company Defiance Testing and Engineering Services to Exova earlier this week.

Market is agog with suggestions that the Hindujas are looking to induct a partner into the venture. These `exits’, it is widely argued, are, perhaps, the result of this move.
