Berger Paints investing Rs.550 cr in Hindupur

Berger Paints India is investing over Rs.550 crore in the Hindupur area of Anantapur district here as part of setting up four paint manufacturing and allied units. The company’s new manufacturing facility, set up at Hindupur with an investment of about Rs.230 crore, was inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy here on Friday. A plastic container manufacturing unit has also been set up for packaging the paints manufactured there.

Besides, a joint venture with Nippon of Japan will go on stream in the next four-five months. A subsidiary paints manufacturing unit will also come up in the next couple of years. Both will be located near Hindupur.

Chairman of Berger Paints K. S. Dhingra said the facility inaugurated on Friday had a capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum . Its capacity would be doubled to 1.6-lakh tonnes per annum in the next two years, and ultimately it would reach 3.2-lakh tonnes in the next four-five years. A plant to make 1-lakh kl emulsion would also come up on the same premises.
