Audi recalls 6,758 units of A4 sedan in India

German luxury carmaker Audi will recall 6,758 units of A4 sedans in India, manufactured between November 2011 and October 2014, to update a software in airbag control unit.

“This activity is specific to Audi A4 cars manufactured between November 2011 and October 2014. There are 6,758 Audi A4 identified for this software update campaign,” the company said in a statement.

Audi dealers, it said, will get in touch with customers across India to arrange for an appointment at their workshop for a software update towards setting parameters for Airbag control unit. The software update will take less than 30 minutes per car.

“The safety of our customers and long-term service life of our vehicles for better reliability remain our top priorities at Audi. To ensure the same, we conduct regular programs to constantly monitor the quality of our products,” it added.

The recall of A4 sedans in India is part of the company's recall of 8.5 lakh units of the A4 sedan globally to repair defective air bag. Nearly half of the units were sold in China and Germany.
