Acer launches 3 Windows-powered touch devices

With the launch of three new touch-enabled devices powered by Windows 8 operating system, Taiwanese computer marketer Acer on Tuesday said it expected 80 per cent of its products to be on touch technology in the next two years.

The company expects the three new products — tablet, ultrabook and notebook — to contribute about 12 per cent of its shipments in the next two quarters.

“The three products launched today [Tuesday], we expect, will account for about 12 per cent of the total shipments of our consumer notebooks in the next two quarters,” Acer India Managing Director Harish Kohli told reporters here.

Acer ships about 100,000-120,000 consumer notebooks every quarter.

The launch includes Acer Iconia W3, a 8.1-inch tablet powered by Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail chipset and is priced at Rs.27,999. It comes with an optional full-sized keyboard for using it as a notebook.

Acer India also launched its ultrabook Aspire P3 and a Windows 8 convertible laptop Aspire R7 priced at Rs.49,999 and Rs.69,999, respectively.
