London chamber chief for easy immigration norms

November 27, 2012 11:45 pm | Updated 11:45 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry is “lobbying hard” to ease immigration norms which would permit Indian businesses to set up ventures in the United Kingdom.

“There was a degree of abuse in the past, and the U.K. put a cap on the immigration numbers. But the restrictions should not be a blunt instrument to stop immigration,” Chamber Chairman Subhash V. Takrar said.

He was, however, hopeful of seeing some improvement. Mr. Takrar, who was here as part of the 22-member U.K. Trade Mission, sounded optimistic when replying to queries in this regard at an interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry on Tuesday.
