Indian subsidiary of Japanese car manufacturer Honda today said it will recall 42,672 units of second generation Honda City cars manufactured in 2007 and 2008 to replace their power window switch.

“Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) will proactively replace power window switch which may malfunction incase water or any other liquid enters the driver side window,” the company said in a statement.

HCIL is carrying out the part update as preventive measure although no such problem has been reported from any where in India, it said, adding that the replacement would be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India, and the owners will be contacted individually in a phased manner.

The company, however, added that the 3rd generation Honda City currently sold in India is not affected and does not require any part replacement. Also, global recall does not impact the Honda Jazz in India.
