4 per cent drop in Tata Global Beverages’s net

Tata Global Beverages has registered a 5 per cent increase in income from operations at Rs.1,913 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2014.

The profit before exceptional items, at Rs.169 crore, was 4 per cent lower than the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

Announcing the results, the company noted that it should continue to focus on strengthening its brands across tea, coffee and water.

In a release here, it said that while the branded business performed well, profitability was impacted by lower crops available for sale in the plantation sector and investment in new ventures.

It also noted that the Tetley Green Tea in the country continued to make good response, giving the trend of a prosperous market for green tea. Tetley Green Tea offers six delicious flavours, which are customised to the India palate.

Company Managing Director Ajoy Misra said innovation, category expansion and strategic alliances would be the future focus for the company’s business expansion.
