Captains of the industry, who converged at a meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here on Thursday, made no secret of their concern over the consequences after December 31, the deadline set for the Justice Srikrishna Committee to submit its report.
Speaking in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, CMD of Infotech Enterprises B.V. Mohan Reddy said the industry was not worried about the outcome of the report, but was concerned more about peace. The industry here was dealing with mission critical applications that involved customer credibility and a strong message had to be sent by the government in support of the industry. “They can stage dharnas and other protests, but that should not affect the industry,” he said.
Infosys chief executive officer and CII southern region chairman S. Gopalakrishnan told reporters later that all the members of the premier industry body expressed concern. Efforts should be made to ensure safety of employees.

According to him, the concern was more about the BPO industry where a break could not only entail loss of revenue, but also the reputation of the firm. “Moreover, there is a need to protect Brand Hyderabad,” he said.
Mr. Rosaiah admitted that it was a matter of concern for the government and the State in general. The government was taking all precautions and was in constant touch with the Centre. “I don't know what type of report it will be, but the issues cannot be sorted out on the streets. The Centre is seized of the matter,” he said.
