Fortis adds Bhiwani hospital to its network

Hospital chain Fortis Healthcare today said it has signed a management contract for 175—bed hospital at Bhiwani in Haryana, taking the total number of hospitals under its management to 45.

“We have entered into a management contract under which the hospital will operate as Fortis MK Hospital and will be managed by Fortis under an operation and management (O&M) arrangement,” Fortis spokesperson said.

This would be the second hospital of the group in Haryana after Faridabad, which it got through the acquisition of Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in 2005.

With the addition of Bhiwani hospital, the number of hospitals under the Fortis network is 45, he said.

The 175-bed hospital in Bhiwani has been set up by Sri Hari Health and Education Foundation, and shall commence services by March 2010, the company said.

“This tie up further reinforces our commitment to create accessibility of quality services at affordable costs by taking our standardised healthcare delivery model to Tier II and Tier III cities,” Fortis Healthcare Managing Director Shivinder Mohan Singh, said in a statement.

Fortis recently acquired 10 Wockhardt hospitals, including two under construction at Kolkata and Bengaluru.

Besides this, Fortis has five more hospitals under various stages of constructions.
