Ford Motor India on Thursday introduced Fiesta Classic after strengthening its presence in the Indian market with the launch of Figo and Fiesta.

Claimed to be an appropriate product for the mid-size segment, Fiesta Classic is targeted at customers in the 30-40 age group.

“It is a classic car at an affordable price,” said Managing Director Michael Boneham after unveiling the car here.

Mr. Boneham said Fiesta Classic would not clash with Global Fiesta, which was expected to hit the market by the middle of this year.

Fiesta had been one of the mainstays of Ford India's brand portfolio.

Similarly, Fiesta Classic could become the ‘branding product' for its future cars under B and sub-B segments in India, he said. It would be available in petrol and diesel versions.

The 1.6 litre petrol version would be available at Rs.5.58 lakh while the diesel variant with 1.4 litre engine would be available at Rs.6.48 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Ford Classic comes in three variants — LXI, CLXI and SXI.

Mr. Boneham said the Indian automobile market was growing by 31 per cent year-on- year. The plant would attain its full capacity of 1.50 lakh units soon with double shift operation, he added.
