Pakistan High Commissioner meets Anand Sharma

Pakistan High Commissioner Salam Bashir, on Friday, called on Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and discussed enhancement of trade and economic co-operation between the two countries. Mr. Bashir is believed to have assured Mr. Sharma that the new government in Pakistan, headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was keen on strengthening trade and economic relations with India, and a decision on various issues would be taken in the next few months.

Earlier, a joint delegation of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the SAARC Chamber called on Mr. Bashir at the Pakistan High Commission. The delegation included FICCI Secretary-General A. Didar Singh, Vice-President Jyotsna Suri, and President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vikramjit Singh Sahney.

The delegation said the installation of a new government would provide a positive momentum in the betterment of relations between the two countries.Both sides discussed various bilateral issues.

The Pakistan High Commissioner expressed hope that the business community of the two countries would have productive interaction during upcoming meetings.
