Japan keen to pick up 26 % in DMIC

The Japanese Government has shown keen interest in picking up 26 per cent equity stake in the ambitious $90-billion Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project.

The project envisages establishment of several industrial cities across six States.

“Japan has sent a letter to us. They have shown interest to take 26 per cent stake. We have forwarded the same to the Finance Ministry for an appropriate decision,'' a senior Commerce Ministry official said.

DMICDC (DMIC Development Corporation) is a special purpose vehicle for implementing the billion project for building industrial enclaves along the Delhi-Mumbai rail corridor, spanning Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The mega-infrastructure project will cover 1,483 km between Delhi and Mumbai.
