Foreign portfolio investors have pulled out $4 billion (more than ₹26,700 crore) from capital markets so far this month, primarily due to the surge in global crude prices. In April, they had taken out more than ₹15,500 crore from capital markets (equity and debt), which was the steepest outflow in 16 months.

According to the latest depository data, FPIs withdrew a net sum of ₹7,819 crore from equities and ₹18,950 crore from the debt market during May 2-25. So far in 2018, they have put in ₹641 crore in equities and withdrew nearly ₹30,000 crore from the debt market.
