Petrol, diesel rates marginally up

Petrol and diesel prices will marginally go up with effect from Tuesday following an increase in the commission of the dealers of the oil marketing companies.

According to a spokesperson of Indian Oil Corporation, the following will be the new rates of petrol (per litre): Chennai– Rs.48.65; Coimbatore– Rs.48.69; Madurai– Rs.48.93; Tiruchi– Rs.48.80; Salem –Rs.48.85; Tirunelveli– Rs.48.72; and Puducherry– Rs.42.59.

The new rates of diesel (per litre) will be: Chennai– Rs.35.02; Coimbatore– Rs.35.36; Madurai– Rs.35.61; Tiruchi – Rs.35.48; Salem– Rs.35.52; Tirunelveli– Rs.35.39; and Puducherry– Rs.33.63.

The increase in the dealer commission is seven paise per litre for petrol in all locations in Tamil Nadu, except Tirunelveli. In Tirunelveli and Puducherry, the increase is 8 paise.

It is four paise per litre for diesel at all locations in Tamil Nadu. In Puducherry, it is 5 paise.
