BWA: price touches Rs. 7221 crore

May 31, 2010 11:21 pm | Updated November 28, 2021 08:53 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The provisional winning price for broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum on Monday touched Rs. 7,221 crore, with Delhi and Mumbai circles crossing the Rs. 1,000-crore mark. Other circles too, which include Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, are being keenly contested by telecom operators.

At this bid, the government would get Rs. 21,664 crore, taking its total revenues from both 3G and BWA spectrum auctions to nearly Rs. 90,000 crore.

Interestingly, over Rs. 1,000 crore is being added everyday in the BWA spectrum auction as bidders are more compared to just two pan-India slots that are available. One slot will go to BSNL, except for Delhi and Mumbai.
