BWA: price crosses Rs. 9,500 crore

With 11 telecom players vying for broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum at the ongoing auction, the provisional winning price for pan-India licence on Friday crossed Rs. 9,500 crore with Mumbai, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka circles remaining most-valued at Rs. 1,554 crore, Rs. 1,514 crore, Rs. 1,390 crore and Rs. 1,100 crore, respectively. At current bidding value, the government is assured of over Rs. 28,500 crore and with a few more rounds of e-auction still remaining, this revenue collection could easily surpass Rs. 30,000 crore.
