11 companies in race to supply 3000 MW power to Gujarat

Eleven power companies including Essar, Adani, PTC, Avantha and KSK have submitted bids for long term power supply to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL).

The GUVNL had invited proposals for supply on 3000 MW power on long term basis.

January 11th, was the last date for submission of bids and 11 companies have submitted their technical and price bids for supply of 6800 MW power, GUVNL officials said.

“In response to our invitation for bids, 11 companies have participated and have offered to supply power aggregating 6,700 MW against the requirement of 3000 MW,” a senior official from GUVNL told PTI.

According to him, Essar has offered 800 MW, Adani has 2200 MW, while KSK Energy’s subsidiary, Vardha Power, has bid for 1000 MW.

Besides this, other companies which have participated include OPG Power, MP Power, Aryan Coal’s subsidiary TRN Power and Shaponji Palonji.

Over two dozen companies had purchased bid documents out of which 11 have submitted their technical and price bids.

GUVNL, which will open the technical bids first, is likely to open the price documents on January 27.

“After selection of the companies, power purchase agreement (PPAs) will be signed while as per the tender provision, power supply has to commence in 40 months after the signing of PPA,” the official added.
