Rahul Bose was named the ‘superstar of arthouse cinema’ by TIME magazine. In 2002, at Palm Springs, he was awarded Runner-up Best Debut Director for ‘Everybody Says I’m Fine!’. Founded in 2006, his NGO, ‘The Foundation’, is dedicated to the removal of all kinds of discrimination. Oxfam’s only South Asian Global Ambassador, he was awarded the Green Globe award in 2009 and was voted the Indian Youth Icon of the Year (Social Justice) in 2010. In 2011 he was the first Indian from a non-financial background to be invited as the keynote speaker at the World Bank headquarters in Washington D. C. for a seminar on Education through Entertainment. In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious Hakim Khan Sur Award for National Integration. On India’s Independence Day in 2012, he was conferred the Lt. Governor’s Commendation Award for his services to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Rahul represented India playing rugby from 1998-2009.

Rahul Bose will speak at two sessions - My Dear Bapu: Readings from Letters Exchanged between Rajaji and the Mahatma and No Country for Women: Some Truths About Rape - in Chennai on February 16, 2013 at the Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall in Lady Andal School.
