The 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) paid homage to the memory of writer U. R. Ananthamurthy on Saturday during by screening Girish Kasaravalli’s 'Ghattashraddha'.
Wife of late Ananthamurthy, Ms. Esther Ananthamurthy and his daughter Anuradha Ananthamurthy were present for the screening.
Expressing gratitude to organisers of the IFFI for the homage arranged in the form of screening of a film, Ms. Esther said the memories of her husband who died three months ago were fresh.

"This programme is a real tribute to his memory. It is an honour to be here", she said.
Ms. Anuradha also said, "Events like this keep memories alive."
She recalled that this was Mr. Kasaravalli's first film and that she still remembers his coming to their home with the working unit to discuss with her father about the film.

She said that her father was very happy and satisfied about the film because it was very faithful to his story.
"Mr. Kasaravalli has since come a long way as a filmmaker," she said and recalled the lifelong association of both and mentioned how his last biographical film was a tribute to U.R. Ananthamurthy.
