WRITE START: At the launch of "Ripples'.

“We cannot handle even one woman but you have chosen to coordinate with 26 of them for this book apart from the three in your life, your wife and two daughters, said most my friends,” quipped Prashant Karhade of APK publishers, at the launch of “Ripples,” a collection of 48 short stories by contemporary women authors at Oxford bookstore.

The collection encompasses various genres and is a good platform for authors, said Prashant. “Short stories are a trend that's just catching on and I knew some of the authors, which is why I embarked on this anthology. It's a great way to start off their writing career.”

Actor Revathy, who was present at the launch, said, “It's an interesting combination of different generations where you can try to see how each one thinks. It's fantastic to bring such talent to the fore.”

RJ Suchi spoke of a future where sexuality in writing disappears. “In the past, women writers were either defensive or offensive and there were also the feminists. But good writing will only come when sexuality disappears and people pick up books without wondering if a woman or a man wrote it.”

“Ripples” contains contributions by international and national award-winning writers along with stories by debutants.

Some of the authors Fehmida Zakeer, Vibba Batra, Jayati Dasgupta and Sharada Balasubramanian were also present.
