After a wait of almost two years, the Majestic interchange metro station is now linked to the city bus stand, the KSRTC bus terminal and the city railway station.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) on Tuesday opened a newly built walkway which will allow commuters access to all the three transport hubs.
The 175-metre walkway is linked to an existing subway that connects the railway station to the BMTC bus stand. The interchange station has been operational since April 2016, but in the absence of a subway or walkway, commuters had no option but to walk on the busy road to get from the station to other points. In addition to the walkway, the BMRCL opened a subway under Tank Bund Road, connecting Chikka Lalbagh area. This subway will help people coming from Akkipet and Balepet areas to reach the metro station.

Another subway crossing Minerva Mills Road, which connects the city railway metro station with Gopalapura area, was also opened. A skywalk from this station to the city railway station platform is yet to be thrown open to the public.
The BMRCL has spent total of ₹13.5 crore for the all the projects inaugurated on Tuesday.
Though, the BMRCL opened the much-needed walkway, commuters headed towards the railway station and the city bus station will still have to use the badly maintained subway which is filled with hawkers. Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George said, “We will approach the BBMP to see whether the subway can be handed over to the BMRCL for maintenance. There is a need for good ventilation system, CCTV cameras, and deployment of security guards. We will address the issue in coming days.” He added that Chikka Lalbagh park, which was partially destroyed for metro tunnel work years ago, would be resorted at a cost of ₹3 crore.

The BMRCL has signed an MoU with Titan Company Ltd. for the development of Veerasandra lake at Anekal taluk, which will cost ₹8 crore.
