Three arrested on charge of sandalwood theft in Hassan

Sakleshpur Forest officers on Saturday took three persons into custody in connection with the theft of sandalwood in Kiruhunase village in Belur taluk. The arrested are Seena of Kiruhunase, Sudhakar and Guruvappa of Tumbadevanahalli in Belur taluk.

The officers informed presspersons that the arrested allegedly cut a tree on the premises of a temple at Kiruhunase. Based on this information, the officers reached the village and caught the persons with sandalwood pieces. The officers recovered 6.4 kg of sandalwood from the arrested. The Forest Department has booked a case against the accused.
