Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam on Monday sought the intervention of District Collector into proposed plan by the Forest Department to shift Project Tiger office from Coimbatore to Chennai. The petitioners during the grievances day meeting, stated that shifting of the office from Coimbatore will cause difficulty for forest staff, public and farmers as they will be forced to travel to Chennai for various needs. The petitioners said that three out of the four tiger reserves in the State - Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve and Anamalai Tiger reserve- are situated close to Coimbatore and hence shifting the Project Tiger office to Chennai will not serve its purpose.
Action sought
Social Awareness Movement wanted District Collector to take action against those involved in installing statues of former Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa next to Anna statue on Avinashi Road.
The petition submitted by president of the movement J.D. Socrates said that Supreme Court in an order issued in 2013 had prohibited installation of any statue or construction of any structure in public roads, pavements, sideways and other public utility places.

Design changes sought on flyover
The Coimbatore district unit of the Communist Party of India wanted changes to be made in the Gandhipuram flyover as it has not reduced traffic congestion.
In a petition submitted to District Collector, the party wanted changes to be made in the design of the flyover to facilitate vehicles coming from Ganapathy side to Gandhipuram bus stand, Bharathiar Road and VKK Menon Road.
