Kerala petrol pump owners strike for hike in commission

Pump owners demand changes in policies encouraging privatisation, increase in rent of property, and avoidance of handling charges levied by banks.

Petrol pumps across Kerala have been shut down from Sunday midnight as petrol pump owners went on a strike demanding hike in commission. All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders and Kerala State Petroleum Traders Association are jointly observing the 24-hour strike on Monday seeking annulment of the sanctions given by the government and oil companies for new pumps. Reportedly, 567 pumps under it would not take part in the strike.
