We'll go to any extent: Jamali

ISLAMABAD APRIL 15. Amid the raging war of words between Islamabad and New Delhi, the Pakistan Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Jamali, has asserted that his country could go to any extent to defend itself against India.

In an interview to the newly-launched Star TV in India, carried on the state-run Pakistan Television and the state-controlled Associated Press of Pakistan, Mr. Jamali referred to the recent statements of the External Affairs Minister, Yashwant Sinha, that Pakistan was a "fit case of pre-emptive strikes" and said that Pakistan knew how to defend itself. "Tension between India and Pakistan is quite dangerous because both are nuclear powers. When it comes to the sustenance and defence of the country, we would go to any extent," Mr. Jamali said.

Since Mr. Sinha made the remarks, several senior functionaries in Pakistan including the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, have reacted sharply.
