However, the dalam leader, Kranti, reportedly managed to escape with bullet injuries.

According to the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police, Eluru range, K. Narasimha Reddy, a special party police had reached the place on a tip-off as part of combing operations. Upon spotting the police, a sentry guarding the naxal hideout in a cashew grove in Polavaram mandal, began opening fire and fled the scene.

Identity not confirmed

The police returned the fire leading to the death of the militants, the DIG said.

The two persons remained trapped in the hideout even as the remaining six persons managed to escape under the cover of gunfire.
