Two new records on final day

Once again, Rahul Sharma and Sidhant Sejwal set a meet record each in the men’s section on the final day of the Delhi state aquatic championship here on Sunday.

Rahul, declared the best swimmer, clocked 31.35 seconds to win the 50m breast-stroke in record time. His effort erased the previous mark of 33.36 set by Sudhir Tokas in 2002.

Sejwal’s record came in the 100m back-stroke for which he took 1:03.25 to sink the previous mark of 1:03.60, made by Praveen Tokas in 2006.

Rahul and Satakshi, who added three more golds on Sunday, emerged the best male and best female swimmers of the meet.

The results (winners): Men: 50m freestyle: Ashish (25.58); 400m freestyle: Gaurav Tokas (4:47.22); 100m backstroke: Sidhant Sejwal (1:03.25 NMR, old 1;03.60 Praveen Tokas, 2006); 50m breast-stroke: Rahul Sharma (31.35, NMR, old 33.36); Sudhir Tokas, 2002); 200m butterfly: Rahul Sharma (2:21.08); 200m individual medley: Ashish Tokas (2:34.02).

Women: 50m freestyle: Anjali Nayyar (29.20); 400m freestyle: Pallavi Sejwal (5:03.20); 100m backstroke: Ruhab Khan (1:18.36); 50m breaststroke: Anjali Nair (39.34); 200m butterfly: Vasundhra Puri (2:40.10); 200m individual medley: Akansha Mahapatra (2:42.12).

Boys: Group V: 50m freestyle: Ridhraj Singh (37.25); 100m freestyle: Ridhraj Singh (1:24.28); 200m individual medley: Chetanya Sethi (3:47.22).

Group VI: 50m freestyle: Bhagya (49.37); 100m freestyle: Bhagya (1:26.29); 50m breast-stroke: Bhagya (54.22);

Group VII: 50m freestyle: Imad Khan (1:24.45).

Girls: Group V: 50m freestyle Satakshi (43.48); 100m freestyle: Satakshi (1:38.06); 200m individual medley: Satakshi (4:14.20).

Group VI: 50m freestyle: Suhani Jain (54.26); 100m freestyle: Mehak Arora (2:14.37); 50m breast-stroke: Suhani Jain (1:16.78).

Group VII: 50m freestyle: Sarisha Mehta (1:27.05).
